Site specific installations at the former Deptford Police Station for the exhibition Vacant. In Use part of Deptford X Fringe 2017.
The work Untitled (Gold Light) aims to bring elements of utopic reflection in a space of physical restriction. Working through surfaces as metaphor to reflect on the feeling of being jailed, the site-specific installation aims to establish, through its visual presence, a space for dream and imagination in a punishment institution.
Created as a reaction to the jail’s context, the piece takes the symbolic representation of a golden vein on a wall’s crack to express hope and create room for new feelings.
